By the time we are seeing colorful autumn leaves in october hundreds of Tulsa County middle school students will be putting the finishing touches on their energy essay contest entries. That is our goal, but we need your help to spread the word about our contest. Please post the contest flyer at your office, when available. Tell your friends and neighbors about it too! Contact Cheryl Wootton by email (cwootton@att.net) if you want a packet of information sent to a teacher, principal or home school.
The essay contest encourages students to develop reading and researching skills while learning about important energy-related topics.
The Desk and Derrick Club of Tulsa announces its fourteenth annual energy essay contest for all middle school students (grades 6-8) within Tulsa County and the surrounding area, including home-schooled students. Cash prizes will be awarded to both students and their sponsoring teachers for the top ten essay scores. The first-place student, his/her parents, sponsoring teacher and school principal will also receive an invitation to attend the group's annual awards banquet.
